Our Products2nd Sight Gun Sights currently offers three models of its Zone Reflex (Z-Flex) pistol sights. The current iteration of pistol sights fit the Glock family of pistols. The unique and proprietary cut of the dovetail configuration fits into the dovetail milled in the top of the slide of each Glock pistol. Future iterations of the Z-Flex pistol sights will include: Smith & Wesson’s M&P (Military & Police) pistols
The Flip-up design makes use of reflexive shooting techniques where fast target acquisition and accurate shot placement are of vital importance. Z-Flex sights enable shooters to quickly align along the vital center line of the threat or target without having to “look down at the gun” to see if the front post is properly aligned within the rear notch. The Z-Flex Flip-up comprises a fixed base that attaches to the slide of the pistol via two set-screws; no machining or permanent alterations are required. Z-Flex sights are designed as a “drop in” unit. The spring-loaded Aiming Aperture is capable of folding either forward or backwards, but always returns to the upright/ready position if bumped. This feature is designed to avoid snagging on clothes or equipment when drawing or re-holstering the weapon. The unique Aiming Apertures are in-laid with a high-grade luminescent pigment called Super-Luminova® provided by RC Tritec AG of Switzerland. When activated by a flashlight (or even black light) between 30-60 seconds the pigments provide a bright after-glow for over six hours. The luminised Aiming Apertures are ideal for orienting the weapon in low-light conditions (e.g., night work; room clearing) even approaching total darkness! The Aiming Aperture incorporates two methods for aiming: In combat mode using the two luminised brackets or Aiming Apertures for targets less than twenty-five feet (about the distance the FBI designates as within combat range), and a notch with two luminised dots on either side (for a traditional “three-dot” sight picture) for those times when a carefully placed precision shot is called for. Thus within one aperture shooters have two aiming capabilities.
The Fixed-base design is predicated on the Flip-up model except the Aiming Aperture (with the brackets and notch) remains in a constant upright position. This model is produced from a single piece of bar-stock. The Fixed-base design may appeal to those less concerned with snagging issues, such as for target or competition shooting or possibly for home-defense use where the luminised Aiming Aperture is always in the deployed position. The Fixed-base design also incorporates the Super-Luminova® pigments within the gun sight.
Z-Flex Low-Profile Combat Design The Low-Profile Combat design is intended for those who desire an extremely low-profile gun sight; the wedge-shaped design fulfills the need for a gun sight that especially is not prone to snagging. The signature luminised Aiming Apertures literally “hug” the front post for fast target acquisition and accurate shot placement. |
